Two books shortlisted for BC & Yukon Book Prizes 2024
Heritage House is proud to share that two books have been shortlisted for the BC & Yukon Book Prizes 2024. A Complex Coast: A Kayak Journey from Vancouver Island to Alaska, by David Norwell, is nominated for the Roderick Haig-Brown Regional Prize. The Roderick Haig-Brown Regional Prize is awarded to a book that contributes the most to the enjoyment and understanding of British Columbia and/or Yukon. Fleece & Fibre: Textile Producers of Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands, by Francine McCabe, is shortlisted for the Bill Duthie Booksellers Choice Award. Shared by the book's publisher and author, the Bill Duthie Booksellers Choice Award is for a book that is the most successful in terms of public appeal, initiative, design, production and content. It is also the only prize where votes from BC and Yukon booksellers determine the shortlist and winner. The BC and Yukon Book Prizes, established in 1985, celebrate the achievements of British Columbia and Yukon writers, illustrators and publishers. Prizes are presented annually in 10 categories. The 2024 shortlists were announced on Thursday, April 11, 2024, and will be celebrated at a free, public Soirée on Thursday, May 16 at 6:30 pm at Book Warehouse in Vancouver. The winners will be announced at a ticketed Awards Gala on Sunday, September 28, 2024, at the University Golf Club in Vancouver.
