British Columbia’s Young Readers’ Choice Awards has announced its Red Cedar Book Award shortlist for the 2023/2024 year. Heritage House is proud to see two of our books on the non-fiction shortlist:
- Her Courage Rises: 50 Trailblazing Women of British Columbia and the Yukon, by Haley Healey, illustrated by Kimiko Fraser
- Caring for Critters: One Year at a Wildlife Rescue Centre, by Nicholas Read
The Red Cedar Book Award is aimed at Grades 4-7. Award nominees are chosen by a group of educators across BC, selected from hundreds of books submitted by publishers, which are then voted on by readers. The goal of the program is to engage, excite, and educate kids, families, and educators across the province. Nominees are posted in the Summer, and voting starts in April of the next year, with the winners being announced in mid-May.
