City of Rainbows and A Haida Wedding win big at the 2025 British Columbia Historical Federation Awards

The British Columbia Historical Federation announced the winners for the 2025 Historical Writing Awards and Heritage House is proud to share we have two books among the six finalists:
First Runner Up went to The City of Rainbows: A Colourful History of Prince Rupert, by Blair Mirau. A vivid and comprehensive history of the city of Prince Rupert, this book balances the histories of Indigenous Peoples, European and Asian settlers, and recent immigrants, revealing powerful, intriguing, uncomfortable, and beautiful truths about an undoubtedly colourful city.
The Community History Award went to Terri-Lynn Williams-Davidson and Robert Davidson for celebration of Haida marriage ceremony. In 1996, Terri-Lynn and Robert celebrated their nuptials with the first traditional ceremony legalized under Haida law in over a century. A Haida Wedding is a fascinating tribute to the unbreakable bonds of love and family, providing an intimate photographic window into that momentous day and marking the resurgence of a tradition that was nearly lost to colonial forces.
Congratulations to Blair, Terri-Lynn, and Robert for their wins! The City of Rainbows and A Haida Wedding are both available now.
